报告摘要：

In this lecture, I will present the basics of the so-called “modern theory of polarization,” mainly developed by Vanderbilt and Resta, and described here for a one-dimensional periodic AB system (SSH model). The need for a properly defined position operator, the emergence of a polarization quantum, and the role of the Zak phase and Wannier centers will be discussed.
