报告摘要:
In
this talk, Professor Shahriar Hossain will introduce the mission and
vision behind “Materials Nanotectonics”—a pioneering conceptual
framework for designing advanced functional inorganic nanospace
materials. This new paradigm focuses on engineering high-surface-area
nanoporous materials that offer abundant functional sites, enhancing
performance across a range of critical applications, including energy
storage, catalysis, targeted drug delivery, and biosensing. Recent
advancements in soft templating, using amphiphilic surfactants and block
copolymers, have enabled the creation of mesoporous structures in
diverse materials like metals, metal oxides, and carbon-based compounds.
Notably, mesoporous metals are particularly promising for
electrocatalysis, as their complex porous networks reveal a multitude of
unsaturated atoms on high-index facets, offering exceptional catalytic
activity. During this talk, he will discuss the design strategies,
synthesis and characterization of these nanoengineered porous
materials—specifically those with magnetic, electronic, and plasmonic
properties—and explore their potential applications in supercapacitors,
precision drug delivery, and biosensing technologies.
